Do you think Obama's having fun in India?

Because I'd sure hate to think that a little thing like the fact that the U.S. economy is still in the toilet could cramp his style. I don't know what he's doing today but I'm sure it involves luxury cars and fancy locations and expensive food and plenty of people to cater to his every whim.

Hey, wanna know what I've been doing today?

- I've been updating my resume and trying to figure out how I can pick up a second job because my husband had to take another pay cut.

- And I've been combing the coupons to plan meals for the next two weeks that we can afford and that are not ramen noodles.

- And I've been going through closets to determine who gets new shoes this month because everyone needs them but we can only afford one pair at a time.

- And we had to tell the kids we canceled the vacation next spring even though we haven't a vacation for the last four years and were really hoping to go somewhere for spring break.

But hey, Obama told us we'd all have to tighten our belts to get through this, right? I mean, even he's gone from the $400/lb Kobe beef steaks to the $300/lb Waygu. And if they raise our taxes by over $200 per month next year, it'll be worth it so Obama and the missus can keep living in style, right?

Obama suddenly remembers his manners

Oh, so now Obama wants to talk? According to this, Duh One has invited Boehner, McConnell, reid, and pelosi to the White House for a meeting. And of course he's spewing the standard politician talking points about bi-partisanship, finding middle ground, and working together to serve the American people.

Right.

Isn't this the same guy who has spent the last two years calling conservatives and Republicans enemies, racists, bigots, bitter clingers, morons, traitors, and telling them to sit in the back of the bus? Why yes, I believe it is. If there's anything we know about Obama after the last two years, it's that he's an egotistical, selfish, insincere, liar. Whatever olive branch he's extending at the moment is ONLY for political purposes and not because Tuesday's beating has changed his agenda.

Republicans should refuse outright. Yes, bi-partisanship is necessary but it can come later. Let the president chew on his humble pie for a while first, he deserves it. (At least he has his $200 million per day jaunt to India coming up to soothe his bruised ego. Thanks, taxpayers!)

If Boehner and McConnell do attend, they'd better take some giant Slurpees that they can sip noisily whenever Obama starts in on more of his compromise BS.

There's a new hottie in town

Justin Bieber, Robert Patterson, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney can't hold a candle to this guy...

How awesome is New Jersey's Republican Governor Chris Christie? He's smart, well-spoken, tough, focused, and best of all, fiscally responsible. He's working to get New Jersey back on track and he's standing up to all the liberals, unions, socialists, lairs, fakes, cheats, scammers, race baiters, a demagogues out there - in other words, the Democrats.

Here's a hint to all you guys out there. What women REALLY is a man who knows how to balance a checkbook and doesn't take any crap while doing it.

Spin

AP headline today:

Low-key vacation for president on Vineyard

Hmm. Do you think they're trying to make us forget about Michelle's ridiculously luxurious vacation to Spain less than three weeks ago? Or how about the fact that this is Obama's, what, sixth, seventh, vacation this year - and there are still four months to go?

Raise your hand if you've taken even one vacation this year. How about two? Or three? Raise your hand if your vacation has included a $50,000 a week rental and your personal chef. Or how about a $2,500 a night hotel suite and a large staff to see to your every whim.

Low-key, riiiight. Look at those Obamas. Why, they're just regular folks!

My dad's favorite joke

My dad is quite a funny guy. We love to debate politics - or rather since we're both conservative, we love to discuss and complain and get each other worked into a lather over the stupid things liberals do. He calls me regularly with a new joke he's heard and this one is the best yet. I don't know where he got it, sorry.

It's January 1, 2013 and a Marine is guarding the entrance to the White House when a man approaches.
"I'd like to speak to President Obama, please," he says.
The Marine replies, "Sir, Barack Obama is no longer the president. He has left the White House."
"Okay, thank you," the man says and he leaves.

The next day it's the same Marine at the gate and the same man and the same conversation.
"I'd like to speak to President Obama, please."
"Sir, Barack Obama is no longer the president. He has left the White House."
"Okay, thank you."

The third day the same man is back.
"I'd like to speak to President Obama, please."
This time the Marine has had enough. "Sir, this is the third day you've come here and this is the third time I've told you - Barack Obama is no longer the president. He has left the White House. Now, are we going to have a problem?"
The man grins and replies, "No. I just like to hear you say it."
The Marine snaps to attention and says, "See you tomorrow, sir."

The White House Hands Out Acorn Cookies

The White House pastry chef actually made cookies in the shape of acorns last year for Christmas, causing speculation that it was a subtle show of support for ACORN.

Well, maybe it was since in NObama's world, everything is political and the man will hardly blow his nose unless it will benefit him politically. But what I find really interesting about the story is that the White House made cookies. Some 20,000 of them according to Bill Yosses, the WH pastry chef. He said they keep them around to give to those who need a pick me up.

Wait...

Isn't this the low-fat, garden growing, healthy eating White House? Wasn't this administration supposed to set a new standard for health and nutrition?

Why aren't they giving away organic carrot sticks?

It's called PARENTING. Try it sometime.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest wants to sue McDonald's because they say...

"McDonald's marketing has the effect of conscripting America's children into an unpaid drone army of word-of-mouth marketers, causing them to nag their parents to bring them to McDonald's." (Source)

I read that and thought... And?

Of course kids nag. It's one of the things they're best at. They nag when the ice cream truck comes around, when they pass a mini golf course, in the toy aisle at the store, after almost every commercial they ever see, and yes, they nag about McDonalds. And Wendys...and Sonic...and Jack in the Box...and Pizza Hut...

If my daughter nags me to take her to McDonalds because she wants the latest Happy Meal toy, you know what I do? I say no. Usually. Sometimes - very rarely - I say yes and she gets excited and we go and she gets her Happy Meal and we talk and goof off and have a great time. And eventually I throw the Happy Meal toy in the garbage and she never even misses it.

So what if she eats chicken nuggets and french fries once in a while? She also eats vegetables and fruits and whole grains and lots of homemade meals too.

I say no to my kids a lot - way more than I say yes. I say no about all kinds of stuff like staying up too late, eating marshmallows for breakfast, playing hookey from school, watching inappropriate movies, and wearing shorts and flip-flops in the middle of winter. Sometimes they get mad and sometimes they don't. But either way, I'm still the mom and I'm still in charge.

And guess what? My kids still love me. They want to talk to me and hang around with me and listen to me read bedtime stories. The younger ones climb into my lap to cuddle and cover my face with kisses and the older ones come to me to talk about their thoughts and feelings. They want to go places with me and sit at the piano and sing songs with me and my daughter draws pictures of us together with hearts above our heads.

Toys in happy meals is not some diabolical plan to let kids take over the world. This kind of lawsuit is just another way for weak, ineffective parents to justify their failure to do their freaking job.

Hey parents, may I humbly entreat you to - GROW A PAIR!!

Hypocritical Much?

So, Rahm Emanuel is slamming Tony Hayward for going yachting today. According to this, Emanuel said the move was "part of a long line of PR gaffes and mistakes.”

Wait. Rahm Emanuel? This Rahm Emanuel? The Rahm Emanuel who attended Biden's Beach party with the press earlier this month and is pictured with a super soaker?

One wonders if after the interview Emanuel had time to register the irony, but probably not. After all, he had to run say goodbye to Obama, who was on his way out the door to play golf today.

President Whinypants trys to show some backbone - and fails.

Okay, this whole "tough guy" persona the president is taking on the oil spill? Dumb. He's trying to convince us he's swooping in and save the day with his talk about ass kicking and keeping his boot on the throat of BP. Hello? BP has admitted they made a mistake and they have accepted responsibility. They're doing everything they can (presumably) to stop the leak and make it right.

It's not like 9/11, this isn't some shadowy terrorist organization whose leaders are still running around free and must be brought to justice- we know where to find Hayward et al. Well, maybe Obama doesn't know where to find them but the rest of us are pretty sure where they are. *Hint to da One - it's not on the golf course*

I do believe there should be some recompense starting now for those whose livelihoods are gone. But if there's anything we know about the American legal system it's that the lawyers are going to be picking over this carcass for a long, long time. Obama doesn't need to worry that BP will get off lightly; they'll be lucky to still be solvent when all the lawsuits are over.

And while we're on the subject, Mr. President, does your fight for justice include more government handouts for the oil industry workers and those they support who are suddenly jobless due to your moratorium on ALL Gulf drilling?

It's good to be gub'mint.

I went to the Post Office today to mail a letter. I got there at 9:15, not long after they opened. The parking lot was empty and the building was empty except for five employees. One was at the other end of the room doing something with PO boxes, one was doing something with a till, and the other three were leaning against the counter talking.

I had to buy stamps so I went to the signpost to wait for someone at the counter to help me. All five of the employees looked at me but NOT ONE made a move to help me. No one greeted me, no one smiled at me, no one even acknowledged I was there.

You guys, I stood there for at least five minutes while the guy with the till kept right on doing whatever he was doing and the other three employees in the room continued with their conversation about a movie they'd all seen.

Finally, someone else came out of the back and sold me my stamps.

What private company would EVER run their business this way? One that would quickly be out of business, that's for sure.

In today's "Well...DUH" news:

The Heathcare bill may cost more than we were originally told.

Ya think?

Is this honestly a surprise to anyone? A third grader with only a basic knowledge of math could have predicted this.

Wait. . . so Obama, Pelosi, and Reid lied to us?

Shocker.

It's RINO Season!

I live in Utah - one the reddest of the red states - where last night incumbent Senator Bob Bennett was defeated in the second round of voting at the GOP state convention. He didn't even make it to the primaries, that's how mad people are. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me.

I wasn't very involved in politics at 1992 when Bennett was first elected, but I vividly remember the campaign commercials he ran promising to serve two terms only and then get out. Uh... that was 18 years ago and in the meantime, Bennett has voted for bank bailouts, entitlements, earmarks, and pushed for a bipartisan healthcare bill. What a classic example of the corrupting power of power.

I'm sure incumbents all over the country have taken notice and are worried. And they should be. The American people are ticked and it's open season.

Lock and load, citizens!

Raquel Welch, you have just earned my respect

I admit, I don't know much about Raquel Welch other than that my dad considers her one of the most beautiful women in the world. And she is.

But more important than her beauty is her willingness to say something that might be unpopular in her OpEd, It's Sex O'clock in America.

I urge you to read the entire article. My favorite part is this:

"During my pregnancy, I came to realize that this process was not about me. I was just a spectator to the metamorphosis that was happening inside my womb so that another life could be born. It came down to an act of self-sacrifice, especially for me, as a woman. But both of us were fully involved, not just for that moment, but for the rest of our lives."

Bravo, Raquel!

In the past two weeks...

I have:

1. Visited a new doctor ... and been asked to show ID
2. Signed my son up for preschool ... and been asked to show ID
3. Been pulled over for speeding (*ahem*) ... and been asked to show ID
4. Purchased something with a credit card ... and been asked to show ID
5. Traveled on an airplane ... and been asked to show ID
6. Bought compressed air ... and been asked to show ID

I KNOW - can you even believe what I've endured in the last 14 days. The horror! It's amazing really that I'm still alive to tell the tale. I mean, my driver's license is in my wallet, in my purse, and to get to it I have to undo TWO snaps and a zipper. How dare they inflict this hardship on me!

Not to mention, I'm a woman and half of the people asking to see my ID were men, so I've clearly been the victim of sexism. And two were not the same race as me, so I've definitely been the victim of racism.

I don't know how I stand it, I really don't.

The Face of Evil

This is Peter Singer, philosopher, professor at Princeton. Peter Singer is evil.

Why?

Of course Peter Singer wants to kill babies. I mean, look at him, that guy's whole persona just screams abortion on demand. But it's worse than that. Peter Singer wants to kill newborns AND toddlers. He thinks it should be okay to kill anyone under two years old if they are deemed "unfit."

In his liberal screed Rethinking Life and Death he writes,
"Human babies are not born self-aware or capable of grasping their lives over time. They are not persons. Hence their lives would seem to be no more worthy of protection that the life of a fetus.

It gets better. Writing about disabled children, he says...

"When this can be known at a very early stage in the voyage, we may still have a chance to make a fresh start. This means detaching ourselves from the infant who has been born, cutting ourselves free before the ties that have already begun to bind us to our child have become irresistible. Instead of going forward and putting all our effort into making the best of the situation, we can still say no, and start again from the beginning."

This is the typical liberal nonsense of I've got mine so now I'll make sure you don't get yours. Does this idiot even realize that the whole reason he's alive today is because his mother obviously didn't share his point of view? (I read somewhere that she has Alzheimer's and he wishes he had the power to euthanize her.)

I almost can't even write about this, it makes me so sick. If you have ever visited a NICU and watched a baby there fight for each breath, you can SEE their will to live. If you have ever gazed into a newborn's eyes, you know there is a fully-formed soul there.

Is there anything more evil than preying on the most helpless among us? As adults we should be focusing our efforts on protecting little ones who can't protect themselves, not rationalizing ways to get rid of them if they are inconvenient. What's next? Babies with colic are labeled "defective" and can be killed so their parents can get some sleep?

Can such a creature like Singer even be called a human being? I don't think so.

Tea Parties Tomorrow

April 15 - Tax day. There will be Tea Party rallies all across the country. Google Tea Parties in your state to find a location near you, or just show up at your state/county government offices.

I urge you to go to the rally and show your support for this movement. We are on the slippery slope toward socialism and have lost many freedoms lately. It's time to wake up and stand up before it's too late.

Go!!
